Country Biscuits

2 cups plain flour
1 Tbsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1/4 cup shortening or butter
1 cup buttermilk or sour milk

Mix flour, baking powder and salt in a large bowl. Cut in shortening or butter then mix in milk until just mixed. Turn out onto floured surface and knead gently about 10 times then let sit for about 10 minutes. Pat out to about 1/2 inch thickness and cut with biscuit cutter of glass. Bake at 400 degrees for about 15 minutes.
